We love WordPress, and you probably do too. It’s not the only platform we work with, but it’s certainly up there among the best.

You might already use a number of plugins on your site, but there are some that we regularly recommend to our clients when we start working with them.

New plugins come out all the time. Some of the ones listed below came out recently, while some have been around for a while.

Anyway, here are our recommendations for the WordPress plugins right now that you should definitely try out on your website.

1. Yoast SEO

WordPress is a good platform for SEO without the need for any extra plugins, and it always has been. However, when you’ve got a plugin as great as Yoast SEO, it’s worth using.

Yoast just gives your site that extra boost, and it can really help you with your SEO content writing by helping you to focus on a keyword for each piece of content you write.

It analyzes your descriptions, titles, the length of content, etc, and overall, it makes SEO less complicated, which is ideal if you are still getting your head around SEO, or if you just want to save some time.

It’s for this reason that it’s used by the pros, but it’s also intuitive enough for beginners.

2. Sucuri

Your website’s security is crucial. Unfortunately, WordPress sites can prove to be attractive targets.

You can protect your site by updating to the latest version ASAP, but it never hurts to have a dedicated security plugin—and Sucuri is one of the best.

Sucuri specializes in WordPress, but it can also be used on other platforms. It provides a whole host of features that make it a fantastic plugin, including malware scanning, alerts if blacklist engines are blacklisting your website, full monitoring, and protection from attacks including DDoS, XSS, brute force, and other types of attacks.

If you want to make your site look stunning (and you probably do), images are going to play a large role in this.

Some people have trouble with images on WordPress, but you can take out a lot of the hassle by using a good plugin like Envira Gallery.

The sole purpose of this tool is to create responsive galleries, which you can then add anywhere you want on your site.

It’s great for creating albums and lightboxes, and despite being a powerful tool, it’s also very user-friendly with its drag-and-drop interface and excellent gallery templates

Backing up is so important that we’re including another backup plugin on this list. Whether you choose BackupBuddy or Updraft Plus doesn’t really matter: They are both fantastic plugins.

Again, this one is easy to use, and it makes restoring your site a breeze.

You can carry out manual backups when you want to, or you can schedule them it to backup automatically at intervals.

You can also store off-site backups in Dropbox or another online storage provider. Then even if your site gets hacked, your backups will be completely safe, and you can restore your site in no time at all.

Forms have many uses, from contact forms to subscription forms and everything else. And this plugin makes them really easy to manage.

With its drag-and-drop interface, it’s really intuitive to use, which is great if you are not a web design specialist.

However, it’s also powerful, and you can use it to create some really complex forms for whatever purpose you need by customizing them to your heart’s content.
